(March 2021) Hotel Societeten opened it's doors sixty years after the large waterfront bath of Holmstrand Norway was built. As the seaside town quickly became known as a bathing destination, the need to accommodate the visitors grew. In it’s prime, Hotel Societeten was the place to stay if you were taking the waters and was much favored by many of the artists such as Nordahl Grieg of the time. In the summer of 1907, Poet Herman Wildenvey had his 25th birthday at the hotel. We could only image that it was quite a bash! The town no longer has the spa along the waterfront and the hotel has long since closed its doors leaving dreams of summering in Holmstrand, Norway fading in the midnight sun.
